Kinesiology taping

What is Kinesiology Taping?

Kinesiology tape (or k-tape) is stretchy, elastic cotton tape applied directly to the skin by acrylic adhesive. The tape is stretched across the skin to create some tension and therefore compresses the skin where it is applied. This lifts the skin and decompresses the tissues underneath the tape. It is designed to help manage pain and injuries.

How can Kinesiology Taping Help?

K-tape can relieve pressure and tension before, during and after activities such as running and football, as well as everyday functional movements like walking. The lifting effect from the Kinesiology tape allows for more space between the layers of tissue so that more blood can circulate to the area of pain or discomfort.

Pain and discomfort can therefore be eased from using k-tape and lymphatic ducts can clear fluid more efficiently.

Kinesiology tape helps to support and stabilise muscles and joints. People who have kinesiology tape applied often feel their range of movement has been increased.

If you're not sure then why not give it a go and see if it works for you. We always have a choice of different tapes in our clinic!
